Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed site examinations of structures to assess their condition, in line with allocated tasks within the Alarm system and specified timescales. Carry out inspections using rope access techniques where appropriately qualified. Prepare and submit accurate condition reports via the Alarm electronic system or other approved processes for review by the Examining Engineers team. Perform special inspections as required, including supporting monitoring schemes for sensitive or high-risk structures. Undertake reconnaissance visits to support planning and assessment activities. Assist Examining Engineers with specialist inspections, including complex and unique structures such as tunnels. Participate in on-call duties to provide rapid response to incidents, including bridge strikes. Support safety-critical site activities as required. Comply with quality, safety, and environmental standards, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Make informed technical observations and decisions within the scope of the role. Provide recommendations for review by the Examining Engineers team. Take appropriate action on-site in response to immediate safety concerns, including potential structural failure or operational risks following incidents, often under pressure. Contribute directly to performance outcomes through the timely delivery of completed examination reports. Skills, Qualifications & Experience GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language. Level 3 qualification (City & Guilds / NVQ) in a building construction trade, or equivalent relevant experience. Competency in STE4 / SCMI (or equivalent standard). Ability to work independently (Individual Working Alone certification preferred). Bridge Strike Examiner competency (or willingness to obtain). IT literate, with proficiency in word processing and basic drawing applications. Full UK driving licence. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
