A Vacancy at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
To assist in the delivery of high-quality healthcare to cancer patients in East Kent. Transporting the HGV Class C Mobile Chemotherapy unit to designated community locations to support the delivery of chemotherapy treatments to patients closer to home.
The driver is responsible for ensuring the general maintenance of the vehicle, daily inspections and other legal requirements of drivers in accordance with industry standards and relevant road traffic law. They will also be involved in the non‑clinical care of the patients by supporting the nursing team and ensuring that patient activity is recorded on the booking system.
Responsibilities
* Transport the HGV Class C Mobile Chemotherapy unit to designated community locations to support the delivery of chemotherapy treatments to patients closer to home.
* Ensure the general maintenance of the vehicle, daily inspections and compliance with legal requirements.
* Support the nursing team and record patient activity on the booking system.
* Operate all aspects of the vehicle and onboard non‑medical equipment (access lift, air conditioning, generators).
* Liaise with medical engineering regarding repairs and servicing of onboard medical equipment.
* Organise and coordinate Trust services for cleaning of the clinical area.
* Organise and coordinate cleaning of the external body of the mobile unit.
* Coordinate general maintenance of the vehicle with the associated service provider.
* Carry out daily vehicle safety checks.
* Drive the vehicle to different locations across East Kent.
* Check that required equipment and supplies are on board and that clinical trollies are restocked.
* Ensure patients are attended on arrival and discharged with the next planned treatment dates scheduled in the booking system.
* Complete all required documentation, including fuel reports, daily log sheets and other paperwork.
* Ensure all servicing reports are sent to the EKLS manager as part of operational licence requirements and for inspection by VOSA.
* Maintain CPC training up to date and keep all relevant mandatory training current.
* Report any vehicle defects to the relevant manager.
* Arrange and coordinate the safe connection of the electrical hook‑up, in line with the Trust Health and Safety Policy.
* Provide extra hours to cover the service as required.
* Arrange a medical assessment for themselves in line with regulations.
