Job Title: Analytical Technician
Job Location: Pangbourne Technology Centre – lab-based role so will be required 5 days per week
Contract Length: 6 months

Job Role:
This is an operational role in the Core Test team of technical specialists responsible for the fast, efficient and accurate analysis of samples to support research, product development and product deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out specification tests on lubricants and additives using a wide range of analytical techniques to international standards and local procedures
* Take ownership of your test workload - prioritise and batch tests to meet turnaround and stakeholder requirements, have an awareness of customer and business requirements, be able to work in an agile way
* Responsible for the daily operation of complex lab equipment and apparatus, including setup, calibration, quality checks and basic problem solving
* Take an pro-active role in adhering to local and company HSSE requirements, this includes ownership and responsibility for every aspect of laboratory health and safety. Be pro-active in continuous HSSE improvement
* Pro-actively contribute to the efficient running of the team and the department as a whole, for example sample receipt and progressing samples through the lab
* Ensure that the work you perform meets the required quality standards
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and the local area Technologists to achieve optimum team performance, efficiency and turnaround
* Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiency gains
Job holder requirements:
* Degree in Chemistry (or relevant scientific discipline) or equivalent laboratory experience
* Suitable candidates will be self-starters with the ability to work independently while also being a strong team player
* Proven track record of attention to detail and generation of accurate test data.
* Experience of analytical techniques ideally in lubricants and additives but this is not essential
* Strong HSSE mindset and previous experience of working in a laboratory environment
Qualifications
Degree in Chemistry (or relevant scientific discipline) or equivalent laboratory experience
