What you will do
Manage the delivery of a diverse range of environmental inputs into transport projects including planning applications, EIA, and support for DCO examinations and/or planning inquiries.
Coordinate environmental inputs into projects such as EIA screening requests, scoping reports, environmental constraints studies, environmental management plans and Environmental Statements.
Build relationships with clients and identify opportunities to support resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery.
Lead activities to secure new work, including proposals, strategic bid preparation, and business development opportunities.
Support the development of innovative techniques to shape the way we work (Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA, etc.).
Inspire and upskill junior colleagues to support their career development.
Promote an inclusive workplace, uphold Health and Safety, and live the company values around health, safety and wellbeing.
Contribute to the WSP business strategy and be self-motivated toward goals for the role, team and projects.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
A relevant environmental degree level qualification in EIA or similar.
Practitioner or Chartered Environmental Status and Full membership of IEMA, or a similar qualification with a relevant professional body.
Familiarity with consenting processes for transport infrastructure and transport-related projects (e.g., HRA, Environmental Permit applications) and how these integrate with planning and EIA for rail and road schemes, transport improvements, rail sidings, or station and infrastructure upgrades.
Ability to coordinate tasks across technical teams, external clients, stakeholders and partner organisations, delivering on time and within budget in line with business procedures.
Ability to lead and contribute to meetings with the wider technical team, clients and stakeholders.
Understanding of HS2, Transport for London (TfL), Pathway, WebTAG, Network Rail and/or London Underground requirements is advantageous.
Experience coordinating environmental surveys required to support an EIA for transport schemes, with knowledge of Health and Safety requirements.
Experience in bid preparation and responding to client change requests with appropriate fee adjustments for transport infrastructure projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong report writing and review capabilities, attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
