The opportunity
Northreach is supporting a growing specialist property lender in the search for an experienced Senior Bridging Underwriter to join a high-performing underwriting team. This role suits a senior underwriter who enjoys managing complex property finance transactions, maintaining high credit standards, and playing a visible role in deal delivery across the wider business.
You will manage your own pipeline while also contributing to underwriting quality and supporting team performance in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.
Responsibilities
Underwrite bridging and specialist property finance cases from initial application through to completion
Maintain ownership of a live pipeline of cases, managing workflow and meeting service levels
Assess borrower strength, property security, valuation reports, and exit strategies
Conduct ongoing risk assessment as cases develop
Prepare and present credit papers to credit committee, clearly outlining risk and commercial rationale
Maintain regular contact with brokers, solicitors and valuers to ensure efficient case progression
Work closely with finance and treasury teams to ensure funding is completed on time
Provide updates to internal stakeholders on pipeline and deal progress
Contribute to improvements in underwriting processes while maintaining credit quality
Work to individual and team KPIs while prioritising workflow effectively
Requirements
Minimum five years' experience in specialist or bridging finance underwritin
Experience holding or working with a lending mandate of £500k or greater
Strong technical understanding of property-backed lending and credit risk
Confident preparing and presenting credit papers for approval
Strong relationship-building skills with brokers and professional partners
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Ability to prioritise workload and perform under deadlines
Understanding of UK mortgage and specialist lending regulatory requirements
CeMAP qualification desirable but not essential
