The Vale Youth Service is a part of the Learning and Skills Directorate of the Vale of Glamorgan Council. We support young people aged 11-25 through informal and non-formal educational opportunities to help them achieve their full potential. We provide safe environments for young people to enjoy themselves, meet others, feel valued, access information and support, and learn new skills.

About the role

Pay Details: Youth & Community Support Worker Range - Pt12 £29,791 per annum (£15.44 per hour)

Hours of Work / Working Pattern: This is a full-time position of 37 hours per week, 52 weeks. The successful candidate will work mostly between 8:30 am and 5 pm, with evening work and occasional weekends required. Flexible working hours will be arranged.

Main Place of Work: Office based at the Civic Offices, Barry, with travel throughout the Vale of Glamorgan.

Temporary Status: Temporary until 31.03.26 due to grant funding.

Description: The Youth Wellbeing Service, funded by Families First, offers targeted support for young people in the Vale of Glamorgan who have faced adverse childhood experiences affecting their social and emotional wellbeing. Managed by the Vale Youth Service within the Learning and Skills department, the role offers benefits including generous leave, enrolment in the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, hybrid and flexible working, staff benefits, and opportunities to join groups like the GLAM LGBTQ+ network.

About You

You will need:

* Experience of face-to-face work with challenging young people.
* Experience of 1-1 support and working with families.
* The ability to relate to, supervise, and build positive relationships with colleagues and young people.
* Ability to use your own initiative and work with minimal supervision.
