Role: Solution Architect - Network & Security
Location: North West / North East (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary Package: £65,000 - £95,000 plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid-for volunteering days a year
Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday – Friday

Role purpose
Qualified specialists, recognised for their expertise, serving as pivotal contributors in various domains. These specialists play a vital role in influencing d shaping new business strategies, policies, practices, and content, catering to both external and internal customers. Their responsibilities may encompass problem-solving and the development and execution of purpose-driven solutions, often of a complex nature, to meet the specific needs of both external and internal customers
Key responsibilities
* To be the Pre-Sales subject matter expert for Networking and Network Security, as part of the team, within SCC Enterprise and Networking. At all times this must include a professional and credible approach to meeting the customers’ needs, within the capabilities and services defined by SCC.
* Supporting customers in all aspects of solution design, from the initial ‘art of the possible’ conversations, through to requirements capture and service scoping. Ultimately supporting the engagement until a service is purchased and can move into technical delivery, and finally operational service.
* To be responsible for the creation of all technical or service elements of customer proposals or offer documentation. Including technical ownership of RFI/P documents and customer tenders. Key elements such as accurate scoping of customer needs and costs are vital. Managed within a quality-controlled environment. Working with provided documentation, presenting back within SCC the accurate costs of sale, and typical deal value.
* Supporting colleagues within Sales, Projects, Technical, Operations, and Product Management to ensure SCC services remain relevant and effective at meeting customers’ needs. For example:
* Ensure a high quality of technical and service content – accurate scoping, and a clear cost model.
* Knowledge transfer when a customer moves from sales to technical delivery, and on into service operation.
* Listen to the market and our customers - Feedback to Product Management relating to new or evolving customer requirements that are not part of the current service model.
* Act as a single point of contact for technical presales engagements
* Advise customers on technology choices and options
* Work closely with colleagues in the delivery teams to ensure presales opportunities are handed over appropriately and with clarity in relation to the proposed solution, implementation approach, and customer engagement
* Participate in peer review of documentation for presales colleagues across SCC
* Provide regular updates to maintain accurate opportunity pipeline reporting information
* Required to participate in technical delivery, providing solution ownership through the lifecycle of projects sold to customers
Skills and experience
* At least five years’ experience of working in a professional services technology role with at least two years focus on presales
* Experience in preparing proposals, statements of work and cost models
* Competent with networking vendor pricing tools such as CCW and Iris
* Experience of presenting technical solutions to both technology focused and non-technology focused personnel up to and including board level
* Knowledge of a broad range of networking technologies across the following:
* Campus LAN switching and wireless solutions
* Datacentre switching
* Access LAN and edge security (MX / zscaler / )
* Large scale enterprise network refresh
* RAS and next generation firewall
* Cloud security and SASE
* Successful track record of driving pipeline and service development initiatives
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Ability to think strategically and lead strategic discussion
* Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and technology trends
* Knowledge and experience of:-
* Networking vendors Cisco, Juniper, HPe Aruba, Fortinet
* Zero-Trust, NAC, segmentation, SDA
* Security products – Umbrella, AMP, Email Security, StealthWatch, Talos, Tetration
* Fortinet security technologies
* Automation and Dev Opps – Ansible, Terraform, Python
* Other relevant technologies:-
o Palo Alto technologies
o F5 load balancing and security technologies
o Datacentre and cloud technologies such as HCI, public cloud, O365
