Equans is looking for a Mobile BMS Engineer to join our Digital business, covering parts of Cambridge and the surrounding areas on a full‑time basis.
Equans Digital has a very exciting opportunity to deliver critical Building Management System (BMS) infrastructure upgrades and enhancements across a range of commercial, retail, healthcare, education and government sectors throughout the country. By priming sites to become ‘smart‑enabled’, we can later introduce additional value through IoT solutions, driving social, economic and environmental benefits for site portfolios and the people who operate and live within them.
Equans Digital currently delivers projects ranging from £10 k to £1.5 m in size, supplemented by specialist supply‑chain partners. With an aggressive growth strategy over the next 3–5 years, this role will be key to shaping and expanding the team while ensuring sustainable growth.
Key activities
The role of BMS Service Engineer involves carrying out a range of tasks on contracted customer sites, including PFI schools, PFI hospitals, government estates and MOD sites. Typical day‑to‑day responsibilities include:
* Installing, configuring and commissioning BMS components and equipment, including sensors, controllers, actuators and software systems.
* Conducting maintenance checks on Trend, Tridium and Distech BMS systems at various sites.
* Participating in the reactive call‑out rota (additional financial benefit for call‑out and attendance).
* Providing specialist technical assistance and support to clients regarding their BMS systems.
* Identifying opportunities for improvement or remedial works to enhance BMS performance for clients.
* Preparing proposals and quoting works as required.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* City & Guilds / BTEC / NVQ Electrical qualification; extensive knowledge and experience of BMS/HVAC.
* Experience with Trend, Tridium Controls/Niagara, Distech, Siemens.
* Excellent working knowledge of the electrical industry.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematic diagrams.
* Understanding of IT networks.
* Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Controls training or experience.
* Experience with fault‑finding in electrical panels.
* DBS vetting and potential BPSS vetting.
* Excellent written and communication skills.
