The Scholarship
The Tassi Graduate Scholarship, established by a generous private donation, offers full funding (including home fees) for three years of PhD research in the field of ancient Greek history. The proposed research may concern any subject within the range of supervisory expertise on ancient Greece available within the History Department, as offered by Julietta Steinhauer (Associate Professor in Hellenistic History; see
For further details about postgraduate research in the History Department at UCL see and consider possible supervisors beyond their primary supervisor. The final supervisory arrangement will be confirmed at the start of the degree.
The student will participate in the Research Training programme in the department.

Candidates should have completed a relevant MA and must fulfil the normal academic requirements for acceptance for What we offer
The studentship will be full-time and run for 3 years from October. The scholarship will cover full-time home fees at the Doctoral Level, plus an annual maintenance stipend. For /26, the stipend rate is £22, for full-time study (rates are calculated 'pro rata' for part-time students). For /27, the stipend rate is to be confirmed, with some rise expected to be applied in subsequent years. Overseas students are welcome to apply but will need to cover the difference between home and overseas fees from other resources.
