Due to continued growth and major long-term customer commitments, we are looking to recruit a highly experienced and hands-on Departmental Head to lead our fast-paced e-commerce envelope manufacturing operation.
This is a senior operational role for a strong production leader with extensive folder gluer knowledge, mechanical understanding, and the ability to drive performance, reliability, and standards across the department.
We are not looking for a “sit behind a desk” manager. We need someone who thrives on the factory floor, leads by example, solves problems quickly, and can get the very best from both machinery and people.
Key Responsibilities
* Overall responsibility for the e-commerce envelope department
* Maximising output, efficiency, uptime and OEE across folder gluer operations
* Reducing downtime, waste and recurring production issues
* Hands-on fault finding and mechanical troubleshooting
* Standardising machine setups and operational best practices
* Training, mentoring and developing operators and shift teams
* Driving continuous improvement initiatives
* Responsibility for Health & Safety, quality and housekeeping standards
* Managing labour planning, recruitment and departmental structure
* Working closely with senior management on production strategy and performance
* Ensuring demanding customer quality and delivery expectations are consistently achieved
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Extensive experience running high-speed folder gluers within packaging, print or converting industries
* Strong mechanical aptitude and practical engineering understanding
* Proven ability to improve production output and machine reliability
* Experience managing teams within a fast-moving manufacturing environment
* Strong leadership presence with a hands-on approach
* Ability to work under pressure and solve problems quickly
* High standards regarding quality, organisation and safety
* Experience within envelopes, paper converting, cartonboard or packaging manufacture would be highly advantageous
