Rate:£500.00 per day inside IR35
My client is looking for a seasoned Android App Developer to join a high-performing, cross-functional agile team working on a large-scale, consumer-facing mobile application used by millions. In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality Android components in collaboration with permanent developers, helping to drive innovation and maintain app excellence at scale.
The Role:
1. Own the Android development of key features, contributing to an established and widely-used mobile application.
2. Collaborate with designers, QA engineers, and back-end developers to ship seamless, high-performance features.
3. Design, implement, and maintain shared code in a scalable, maintainable way.
4. Monitor and optimize app performance, ensuring a high-quality user experience.
5. Follow modern platform design patterns and contribute to continuous improvement through code reviews and technical mentorship.
Skills/Experience:
6. 6+ years of professional experience in native Android development.
7. Experience delivering and maintaining large-scale apps with significant user bases.
8. Proficiency with Kotlin, including advanced features such as coroutines and lambdas.
9. Strong grasp of memory management and performance optimization.
10. Deep understanding of Android design paradigms, especially Material Design.
11. Solid knowledge of modern platform architecture and design patterns.
12. Skilled in testing Android apps using platform tools and best practices.
13. Experience with production monitoring tools and techniques.
14. Familiarity with dependency management tools (Gradle, Artifactory).
15. Comfortable with CI/CD tools and modern Android delivery pipelines.
16. Strong background in system design for large-scale consumer mobile applications.
17. Advanced understanding of networking protocols, including GraphQL, Protocol Buffers, streaming protocols, and pub-sub systems.
18. Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining shared codebases.
19. Proven track record working in cross-functional agile teams.
20. Passion for clean architecture, reusable code, and continuous learning.
21. Experience migrating between stacks and evolving complex legacy systems.
