What’s the opportunity? (Role)
We are currently seeking an ambitious, self-motivated, hard-working individual to become part of the Hereworks Team as a Mobile Service Engineer. The successful candidate will be the front line of Hereworks’ service operations, providing technical support, maintenance, and issue resolution for deployed Smart Building & AV systems. This role is crucial to ensuring system uptime, optimal performance, and a high level of client satisfaction.
What will you be doing? (Responsibilities)
* On-site Support & Repairs: Travel to client locations to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults in room booking systems, integrated smart technologies (lighting, HVAC controls, occupancy sensors) AV systems (Crestron, AMX, QSC, Extron, etc.)
* Preventive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled health checks on installed systems to ensure continued performance and early fault detection
* System Updates & Upgrades: Install firmware and software updates, reconfigure hardware, and apply patches as per manufacturer or Hereworks recommendations
* Client Engagement: Communicate clearly with end-users and site facilities teams, offering guidance and training where needed. Act as an ambassador for Hereworks on-site
* Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of site visits, work completed, parts used, and follow-up actions in the company's CRM or service management system
* Collaboration: Work closely with the design, projects, and software engineering teams to feedback on system performance and client usage trends
What do you need? (Requirements)
* Proven hands-on experience with Smart Building Systems, BMS, and AV integration technologies
* Solid understanding of IoT devices, cloud-connected systems, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) infrastructure
* Strong field experience on construction sites in technical roles (CCTV, AV, alarms, electrical, etc.)
* Skilled in connecting and configuring devices on IP networks
* Proficient in troubleshooting power and network issues
* Experienced in using diagnostic tools such as multi-meters and LAN testers
* Confident interpreting wiring schematics, network diagrams, and technical documentation
* Familiar with a wide range of BMS platforms and AV control systems
* IT proficient, especially with Windows PCs and basic networking principles
* Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic abilities with a proactive, customer-focused approach
* Excellent Communication and People skills
* Holds a full UK driving license and willing to travel regularly to client sites
Desired but not Essential
* Certifications such as CTS, KNX Partner, Crestron DMC-E, or similar
* Understanding of sustainability and energy management goals in smart buildings
* Strong experience with Building Management systems, including the configuration, and maintenance of BMS systems, IoT Sensors and Access Control
