We are recruiting a Mechanical Handling Field Service Engineer to join our South Field Service team, primarily within West London. This full-time role involves maintaining, repairing, servicing, and modifying material handling equipment. As an independent company, each challenge is unique, and we welcome your expertise.
Your Responsibilities:
* Service, maintenance, overhaul, fault finding, and resolution on various material handling products
* Servicing gas, diesel, and electric forklift trucks
* Using check sheets to verify brakes, lifting assemblies, and steering
* Changing oil and filters as needed
* Conducting thorough examinations (pending qualifications)
* Performing preventative maintenance (lubricating steering and lifting equipment)
* Battery maintenance, including checking voltages and fluid levels
Qualifications and Skills:
* Experience with material handling products or a background in engineering, automotive, roadside recovery, agricultural, REME, construction equipment, PSV, HGV, LGV, or plant machinery
* Responding to breakdowns promptly
* Excellent customer service skills and rapport building
* Ability to show initiative and support team members
* Achieving response time targets
* Completing documentation to company standards
* Stock management liaison
* Experience working on mobile machinery (brakes, steering, wheels, lift chains)
* Knowledge of electrical drive/control systems, engines, hydraulics
Essential Requirements:
* Full UK driving license
* City and Guilds qualification in electrical/mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
* Diagnostic computer skills
* Ability to work independently
* Experience with heavy goods, plant machinery, or automotive engineering
