Overview

Knebworth & Marymead Medical Practice is a modern, forward-thinking general practice operating across two well-established sites in Knebworth and South Stevenage, serving a diverse patient population of around 13,000 in suburban and semi-rural settings. We are a teaching and training practice, supporting GP trainees, medical students, nursing students, and other learners. We are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly, supportive, and well-organised team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practice nurse to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care across a wide range of essential services. The successful candidate will have experience in core areas such as cervical screening, childhood and adult immunisations, wound care, contraception advice, travel health, and infection prevention and control. You will be joining a practice that values professional development, offers regular learning opportunities, and embraces innovation to make your work more efficient and rewarding. If you are looking to work in a collaborative, education-focused environment where your skills are valued and your growth is supported, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties

The Practice Nurse will work across both sites, providing a broad range of clinical services in line with national guidance and local protocols. Duties include:

* Acting as the immunisation lead for the practice, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of national and local vaccination programmes across all age groups
* Undertaking cervical screening and supporting well woman services
* Providing contraception services including pill checks and depot injections
* Delivering wound care, including suture and staple removal
* Offering travel health advice and administering travel vaccinations
* Conducting NHS Health Checks, immunisations, and health promotion interventions
* Supporting the implementation and monitoring of QOF, IIF, and local incentive schemes
* Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with practice policies using SystmOne
* Chaperoning patients and assisting with minor procedures when required
* Supporting infection prevention and control practices across the surgery
