Data Protection Solicitor, hybrid or remote working, L500 firm
A leading UK law firm is seeking an experienced Data Protection Solicitor to join its growing regulatory and compliance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a legal professional with a strong background in data protection, privacy, and information law to advise a diverse client base across multiple sectors.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice on a broad range of data protection and privacy matters, including compliance, regulatory investigations, and data-related disputes. This role requires a high level of technical knowledge and the ability to manage complex matters independently.
Key Responsibilities:
* Advising on UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR)
* Handling incident response matters, including regulator notifications, investigations, and client communications
* Responding to data subject access requests (DSARs) and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests
* Drafting and advising on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), privacy notices, policies, and compliance documentation
* Preparing and reviewing data sharing agreements and data processing contracts
* Conducting data flow mapping and developing Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs)
* Carrying out compliance reviews and audits for clients across a range of sectors
* Supporting litigators in data breach-related claims and contentious data protection issues
* Delivering external training on data protection compliance and best practice
1. Candidate Profile:
* A qualified solicitor with a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE)
* Strong working knowledge of UK data protection laws and regulatory frameworks
* Previous experience in a law firm, specialist consultancy, or large in-house team (public or private sector)
