Payroll Administrator

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator is responsible for the full cycle of payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payroll information each pay period. The role involves maintaining internal policies and practices while complying with legislative requirements. Stakeholders include HR, Production Supervisors, Finance, and Unions.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Ensure all payroll processing is completed accurately and on time, with all related documents distributed proactively;
2. Maintain accurate records, including vacation, allowances, and accruals in Kronos Timekeeper;
3. Review, maintain, and approve Kronos timekeeping records;
4. Prepare and enter payroll journal entries accurately and timely, assist with reconciliation of payroll-related accounts, and resolve discrepancies;
5. Prepare month-end cheque requisitions and reports for union dues, dental, and pension plans;
6. Support inquiries from Finance, Auditors, HR, and employees regarding payroll issues;
7. Assist the Payroll Manager as a backup and contribute to payroll projects or implementations as needed.
Requirements:
1. PCP Certification with the Canadian Payroll Association or working towards it, with a minimum of 3 years of experience;
2. Experience with Kronos WFD Timekeeper and Ceridian Dayforce HCM is an asset;
3. Experience handling payroll for 1000+ employees, including union and non-union hourly staff;
4. Knowledge of payroll accounting is a plus;
5. Excellent time management, communication, conflict resolution, and analytical skills;
6. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook);
7. Strong problem-solving abilities;
8. Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and with discretion;
9. Willingness to learn new technologies and stay updated on industry practices.
