About the Role
Leeds Sixth Form College are recruiting for a Deputy Head of GCSE provision to support the Assistant Principal in all aspects of the departments leadership and management, particularly around quality, teaching, learning and assessment and securing outstanding outcomes for students.
This role involves the curriculum management responsibilities for the GCSE provision for both 16-18 and adult learners. It would suit someone who has previous line management experience and would welcome the challenge of managing a large team alongside a clear focus on TLA priorities based on their own subject expertise.
Leeds Sixth Form College is a combined provision of A Levels and vocational courses which provides a diverse range of full-time education programmes for learners aged 16-18 and adult learners aged 19+. The provision ranges from Level 2 to Level 3 and includes both traditional academic and vocational pathways.
For 16-18 year olds the curriculum includes over 20 A Level subjects as well as a range of BTEC courses with different weightings, to ensure we develop learners in a wide variety of subject areas to meet local employer and skill needs. We complement this with a GCSE-focused provision to further widen opportunities for local learners.
What You Will Do
1. Support the Assistant Principal in all aspects of the Departments leadership and management, particularly around quality, teaching, learning and assessment and securing outstanding outcomes for students.
2. Be a role model across the Department for outstanding teaching and learning.
3. Performance manage lecturers and other staff within the Department and ensure that they develop their professional practice.
4. Ensure the Department is efficiently run and delivers its financial contribution targets.
5. Ensure that all courses within the Department are run effectively and meet awarding body, funding and quality agency requirements.
6. Lead on all aspects for a defined section of provision within the Department, including:
7. Ensuring its curriculum is responsive to national and local priorities
8. Adapting and developing provision to meet local demands
9. Responding to funding changes and develop provision in growth areas
10. Securing outstanding outcomes for students and employers
About You
11. Hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE)
12. Hold a relevant higher level vocational qualification or degree in teaching in a subject within the curriculum area
13. Act with honesty and integrity to maintain high standards of ethics and professional standards
14. Have proven experience managing a curriculum, including planning, monitoring and reviewing
15. Have an effective knowledge of the college and an appreciation of wider educational issues.
16. Be able to create and appreciate new ideas and perspectives, see possibilities and challenges
17. Be able to manage and promote relational practice approaches and the strengthening of relationships
18. Be able to comply with all legislative and regulatory requirements
