This is an exciting opportunity to join the friendly and innovative Psychology Department of NHS Dumfries and Galloway. Applications are invited from enthusiastic and energetic individuals who want to play a key role in offering evidence-based psychological therapies across a variety of care settings.
Our department is welcoming and inclusive, with friendly and approachable staff working in all major specialties. The department currently has a complement of around 90 staff, with teams of both Psychologists and Psychological Therapists.
The postholder will have responsibility for:
• offering psychological input to Care Experienced Children and Young People’s Health and Well-Being service for clients, carers, referral agencies, and others in relation to the broad range of often complex emotional and mental health needs in Dumfries & Galloway.
• assessing care experienced children and young people’s needs within this context and to formulate and deliver responsive, psychological interventions at individual and systemic levels.
• supervising psychological therapy and non-psychology staff in matters relating to care experienced children as directed by the Head of Child and Adolescent Specialty and Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the Care Experienced Children and Young People’s Health and Well-Being service.
• planning, facilitating and evaluating service and policy developments within the area as well as within the wider department.
As well as involving direct clinical work, the postholder will support training, consultation and supervision of other health professionals, who are using psychological approaches in their work.
The department has strong links with Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling Universities and takes trainees from both Clinical Psychology and Masters courses. We also provide placements and supervision for CBT Therapists.
