This role has a starting salary of £53,713 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.

We are excited to be hiring a 2 new Team Managers to join our fantastic Care Leavers Service. One position is with the Northwest Care Leavers Team, based in Woking and the other position is based in the Northeast Unaccompanied Minors Care Leaving Team based in Weybridge.

These roles are offered as 17-month fixed term contract or secondment opportunities. If you are internal to Surrey County Council please discuss with your Line Manager before submitting your application.

About the Team
These roles sit within the Care Leavers Service, part of the wider Corporate Parenting Directorate at Surrey, who tirelessly support our care experienced young people to reach their potential towards adulthood. The Service has a permanent and longstanding workforce of dedicated staff and managers. About the Role
As a Team Manager in the Leaving Care Service, you will be committed to helping your service manager and fellow team managers to ensure the service your team provides is forward thinking, responsive and meets the diverse needs of our service users. You will do this by contributing to service strategies, policies and procedures as required.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing, motivating and developing your team by sharing your professional leadership and support to help them deliver consistent and safe practice and effective management of their workloads. Under your expert guidance and supervision, you will ensure that complex cases and decisions are managed effectively.

You will be a skilled communicator with the ability to build and foster effective working relationships with not only your team, but our partners and colleagues across the county to ensure there is successful co-productive working across the division. You will understand what young people leaving care need as well as the legislative framework for this.

Throughout all that you do, you will ensure that your team upholds and champions best practice so that together, we are focused on solving problems before they escalate and we meet the needs of our Children, Young People and their families, reducing the risk of harm.

Your Application

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and experience and align with our :

12. Experience of working with young people who are care leavers
13. A broad working knowledge of social work practice and legislation, especially leaving care.
14. An ability to demonstrate excellent assessment and analysis skills.
15. Previous managerial experience.
16. An ability to drive and support teams through excellent management skills.

An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be required for this role.

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and qualified social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area.
