Offer description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, Band 6 female mammographer to join our friendly, forward‑thinking breast imaging team. This position is key to delivering the Breast Screening Service for women in Dudley, Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire, as well as the symptomatic breast service within Dudley.

Travel is required to all mobile units and static sites.

Main duties of the job

The Breast Screening main unit is located at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley. The service includes three assessment centres at Russells Hall Hospital, New Cross Hospital, and Cannock Chase Hospital, along with three static screening sites and three mobile units.

As a Band 6 mammographer you will cover all duties expected of your level, including maintaining current expertise in mammography and holding HCPC registration and a Certificate in Competence in Mammography.

We welcome international candidates. Internationally recruited AHPs must be registered or in the process of registering with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

We offer a comprehensive preceptorship programme for new graduates, internationally educated registrants, or returning practitioners to support a successful transition into your role.


Skills & Experience

* Good organisational and planning skills; able to manage and prioritise workload
* Able to make decisions
* Basic computer skills
* Experience of quality assurance programmes
* Previous experience of the NHS Breast Screening Programme
* Previous experience of mentoring/training
* Previous experience of health promotion


Education and qualifications

* DCR/BSc in Diagnostic Radiography
* Certificate of Competence in Mammography
* Counselling qualification


Knowledge and Training

* Evidence of CPD
* Registered with the HCPC
* Awareness of current issues within the NHS and NHSBSP


Planning and Organisational skills

* Commitment to quality standards
* Flexible
* Reliable
* Enthusiastic to develop the service
* Desire to undertake further education


Communication and Relationship skills

* Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex/distressing news in a sensitive manner

£39,959 to £48,117 a year (Pro Rata Per Annum)
