Staff Nurse - Ward 11/Haematology

This busy, purpose-built Inpatient Haematology ward is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and compassionate individual with good organisational and communication skills to join the existing team. No prior chemotherapy or haematology experience is required as training will be provided.
The post holder must be flexible and willing to do shift work, including long days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays on a rota basis. Ward 11 and Ward 7 Right are two 10-bed Acute Haematology Inpatient areas, including a bone marrow transplant suite and isolation unit. In addition to inpatient care, there is a Day-care Unit. The unit's activities include chemotherapy administration, supportive care, stem cell transplants, and an integrated clinical trials unit. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to gain experience in both inpatient and day-care settings during chemotherapy training. The inpatient Acute Haematology Ward operates a shift system with hours from 07:00-19:30 and 19:00-07:30, including bank holidays and weekends.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NMC Registered Nurse
* Advanced Diploma/Degree in Adult Health Nursing Studies
* Teaching Qualification
* Post-registration courses related to Haematology/Oncology
Experience
* Experience caring for patients with acute and long-term conditions
* Demonstrable clinical experience
* End-of-life care
Technical Skills
* Basic IT skills
* Vital signs monitoring and recognising a deteriorating patient
* Non-IV and IV medication administration, including blood products
* Venepuncture and Cannulation
* Administration of Chemotherapy
* Awareness of audits
Knowledge
* Fundamental nursing knowledge and practice skills
* Knowledge of Haematology/Oncology conditions
* Understanding of patient experience, quality, and safety agendas supporting Governance Frameworks
Interpersonal Skills
* Effective communication using various methods
