Primary Function
Responsible for providing quality, diagnostic CT examinations and the nursing care needed to ensure patient comfort and safety.
Responsibilities
1. Schedule and prepare patients for CT scanning of anatomical areas per physician request, ensuring patient safety and comfort during the procedure. Monitor the patient’s condition and provide nursing care as needed.
2. Interview patients for sensitivity to contrast material. Review patient records for contraindications and consent, and obtain other medical information relevant to the exam.
3. Operate appropriate equipment using established protocol, monitor equipment function, and troubleshoot when needed.
4. Prepare patients for venipuncture, insert IVs, and administer oral, rectal, and IV contrast as needed. Assist the Radiologist with biopsies and drainages using aseptic techniques.
5. Compile and analyze data for image quality and exam completeness. Transfer images to photographic film and CDs. Prepare patient files for Radiologists’ interpretation.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications
An Associate’s degree in Applied Science with Radiology and a minimum of six months of job-related experience or equivalent is required. CPR Certification is required. ARRT certification is also required. Certification in CTD is required.
