We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic teaching assistant to provide support to a Year 4 boy with Autism in a primary school in the WN1 area. This mainstream primary school caters to a wide range of additional needs and has been described as a welcoming and supportive environment by previously placed staff. Located near fantastic public transport links and with a large and easily accessible car park, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who can provide a consistent and compassionate approach. In this role as a teaching assistant, you will be providing 1:1 support to a boy in Year 4 who has autism. You will need to provide a high level of support when working in the classroom to help him to access the work that has been set and you will need to be proactive in anticipating when he needs regulation breaks and responding in line with the child’s care plan. You will be working alongside the class teacher and SENCO to ensure that this child is able to access the curriculum and is having his wider needs met. When the pupil is settled and on a regulatory activity or break, you may be asked to provide general support within the class. What we are looking for: •At least 6 months experience working with children with autism. •A calm, and consistent approach to managing challenging behaviour •Flexibility to work during school hours -8:30am- 4pm •Ability to reliably commute to the WN1 area.
