Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced nurse/midwife to work in Lothian Sexual and Reproductive Health Service (LSRHS). The fully integrated service is composed of Chalmers Centre and up to 10 local clinics. It provides Tier 4 and 5 specialist sexual health services across 4 Community Health and Social Care Partnerships, meeting the needs of 80,000 patient attendances per annum.
Hours and working pattern
Hours of work are Monday to Friday 08:30–16:30 or 12:00–20:00 with a minimum of one evening shift per week and the possibility of long days in some circumstances. This is a full-time vacancy, but part-time applications will be considered.
Responsibilities
The post holder would be expected to participate in the care of people requiring Genitourinary Medicine, HIV, Contraception, unplanned pregnancy and gynaecological care. There may be opportunities to gain an understanding of Gender Identity, psychosexual problems, menopause and other specialist fields of practice located within LSRHS. This post will also specifically support the ROAM outreach team which provides a range of testing and health promotion services to Gay and Bisexual Men who have sex with men (GBMSM) in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Requirements and checks
To work in the United Kingdom, applicants must demonstrate the relevant permission to work in the country. This is governed by the UK Visas and Immigration Service. This post requires PVG Scheme membership/record. If not currently a PVG member for the required regulatory group, an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before starting. From 1 April 2025, changes to criminal records checks may apply if the role is deemed regulated; if so, appointment will be subject to PVG requirements as appropriate.
