Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Bid Manager with strong leadership qualities and a proven track record of winning major bids within the infrastructure sector. Working closely with the bid leadership team, and the Head of Major Bids for Infrastructure, this role is critical to driving our continued success. The role will oversee the development of multimillion pound bid responses and ensure and ensure high quality submissions.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to quickly interpret complex bid requirements and lead effective bid planning, bid management, and support storyboarding sessions.

Key responsibilities include managing bid timelines, ensuring deadlines are met, and that submissions are upload ready. The role will also involve project setups, coordinating timelines across the supply chain, and working with the Infrastructure Head of Major Bids to manage the forward pipeline. This includes ensuring visibility of upcoming opportunities, managing JV setups, coordinating timelines across the supply chain, and working with the Infrastructure Head of Major Bids to manage the forward pipeline. This includes ensuring visibility of upcoming opportunities, facilitating early bid team engagement, and overseeing the development and management of the two BG Infra bid support team members.

Additionally, the Senior Bid Manager will work with the Business Generation and Knowledge management team to ensure best practice responses are shared across the wider business. Business Generation experience in marketing, including pursuits and branding would be beneficial.

Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate and support developing PQQ/ITT responses incorporating the requirements of the specification, within strict timescales

2. Incorporate local knowledge, evidence/research and writing style/branding ensuring bid is targeted to defined audience, consisting of evidence based and innovative approaches as advised by experts across the organisation and best practice

3. Incorporate input from bid partners, technical experts and wider team as necessary, to ensure a consistent and coherent final bid against scoring criteria

4. Provide structured format and template for others contributing to bid. Proofread for checking consistency and correct grammar as necessary and provide constructive feedback to ensure meaningful and succinct information is obtained

5. Ensure bid is submitted for review for internal quality assurance and governance processes

6. Work flexibly across the organisation to support Directors dependent on tender activity to ensure a unified and consistent approach to bids

7. Following submission of bid, extract key information from tender and manage information in-line with information management processes and following internal feedback analysis processes

8. Support team with Technical or Policy Writing when necessary

9. Ensure accurate and timely reporting for weekly and quarterly reports to executive level audience

10. Support Business Generation with any other activity as required

11. Team player who is willing to adapt to changing priorities of the business

12. Contribute openly to the team with innovations and ideas to ensure the success and development of the company

Qualifications

Education & Professional Qualifications

13. Master’s degree / Degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, English, or another relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).

14. APMP or Project Management qualification (beneficial).

15. Professional membership of a recognised institution (desirable).

Experience

16. Proven track record of managing and supporting major bids.

17. Extensive knowledge and experience of the infrastructure sector.

18. Demonstrated success in CV polishing and contributing to winning bid submissions.

19. Proven analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities, supported by a strong track record solving abilities, supported by a strong track record of delivery.

20. Experience in developing and supporting the growth of junior colleagues.

Technical Skills

21. High level of proficiency in MS Office and strong overall IT literacy.

22. Strong formatting and visual editing skills, and proof reading assurance capability, including adherence to word/page limits.

23. Excellent management and communication skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

24. Understanding how AI tools can support and enhance the bid process.
