Mechanical Engineer / Fitter Location: Newark area Shifts: 4 on 4 off (days and nights - average 43 hours/week) Salary: £42,000 - £50,000 DOE Paid Overtime We're working with a specialist animal by-product processing business supplying into the pet food and biofuel sectors, to support their search for a skilled Mechanical Engineer / Fitter. This is a hands-on, site-based role for someone who thrives in a high-output, high-spec manufacturing environment. You'll be part of a dedicated engineering team, playing a key role in the maintenance and continuous improvement of plant, equipment and infrastructure. What You'll Be Doing: Carrying out proactive and reactive maintenance across a range of plant machinery Supporting production by maximising uptime and asset utilisation Identifying and resolving faults using mechanical diagnostics Contributing to process improvements, new equipment installations, and ongoing upgrades Driving efficiency gains and utility cost savings while maintaining production flexibility Conducting planned maintenance using the Holistech CMMS system Ensuring all work is compliant with H&S procedures, SOPs and relevant legislation Completing all required documentation to meet statutory and audit requirements What We're Looking For: Background in mechanical engineering with proven hands-on skills Experience in manufacturing, process or heavy industry preferred Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities in an industrial setting Ability to fault-find, repair and maintain equipment independently Confident communicator with a proactive, team-first approach Comfortable working shifts and responding to production demands Ideally apprentice-trained to minimum Level 2 (City & Guilds, EAL NVQ) We'll also consider candidates with relevant mechanical experience and the right mindset to learn and grow The Rewards Package: £42,000 - £50,000 salary, depending on qualifications and experience Paid overtime at time and a quarter 20 days holiday (on a 4 on 4 off rotation) Company pension Sick pay scheme Life assurance Electric Vehicle salary sacrifice scheme discounted on-site charging Cycle to work scheme On-site occupational health 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme - confidential support when you need it Retail, gym and restaurant discounts Financial education and support from trusted external partners £300 'refer a friend' reward How to Apply: If you're a mechanically-minded problem solver with experience in fast-moving or process-led industries, we want to hear from you.
