Description
The role of Assistant Estimator is to support the wider estimating team while developing skills to become a successful estimator within the Security Division. You will be part of a motivated team focused on growth and profitability within a competitive industry.
Tasks include interpreting detailed plans and drawings to establish scopes of work, scheduling and costing construction materials, and understanding labour resources to prepare detailed tender proposals for clients.
Key Responsibilities
With support from the Security Division team and Littlewood Head Office, your responsibilities will include:
Surveying & Estimating
* Survey potential work sites, establish ground and site conditions, confirm scope and design requirements.
* Produce survey reports for pricing and coordination.
* Maintain accurate records for follow-ups and reconciliation.
* Understand construction methods and safety legislation to generate accurate cost proposals.
* Identify solutions to meet client requirements, leveraging knowledge of the security fencing market.
* Create accurate price build-ups covering plant, labour, and materials.
* Develop clear tender proposals and assist with Schedule of Works and Bill of Quantities.
* Assist with pre-qualification questionnaire responses.
Business Development
* Promote relationships with clients and suppliers.
* Generate leads, follow up on quotations, and explore market opportunities.
* Report on leads and enquiries monthly.
* Attend meetings across the UK with clients.
Experience and Qualifications
* No prior experience necessary; beneficial but not essential.
* Suitable for A’ level students or graduates entering construction.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Good IT skills, especially MS Excel; MS Project or P6 is an advantage.
* Efficient filing system management.
* Ability to work under pressure, organized, and good at time management.
* Adaptability, confidence in handling tasks, team-oriented but capable of working independently.
