About the Role
Surrey County Council's Adult Social Care Mental Health directorate provides services to residents across Surrey who meet the Care Act criteria in relation to their mental health needs. We are proud to be leading the way in implementing personalised, recovery-focused, and strengths-based approaches. Our aim is to empower service users to make informed choices, take greater control of their care, and actively participate in their communities. Our teams are friendly, cohesive, and committed to delivering high-quality support in the community.
As an AMHP in the Forensic Social Care team you will assess the social care needs of service users and deliver direct interventions to some of the most complex and challenging individuals and their carers. We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled practitioner. You will support people with mental health needs who have committed serious offences, using a strengths-based approach to help them live more independently, with increased choice balanced with the requirements of social supervision.
Your responsibilities will include completing Care Act reviews and reassessments, as well as fulfilling other statutory duties such as safeguarding. A key part of the role involves acting as a Social Supervisor for individuals subject to a restriction order under the Mental Health Act 1983 — full training and support will be provided.
You'll be part of a small, dedicated team and benefit from a structured induction, regular supervision, clear professional leadership, and ongoing career development opportunities.
Your Application
In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours :
* Experience of working in mental health services, including assessment and risk management
* Warranted as an AMHP
* A solid working knowledge of Care Act legislation, including preparing support plans and reviewing care outcomes
* A commitment to your professional development, with up-to-date knowledge of mental health issues
* Experience in supporting or supervising other professionals
