Gloucestershire Community Dental Services delivers high quality care to individuals with additional and complex needs across the County. We are currently looking for two experienced and enthusiastic GDC registered dental nurses to join our dedicated and supportive team. We have opportunities available at our Southgate Moorings Clinic Gloucester (37.5 hours per week) and Redwood House Stroud (30 hours per week), with an expectation to cover alternative sites when required.
Responsibilities
* Support our dentists and dental therapists across a range of settings – including dental clinics and domiciliary care environments.
* Demonstrate excellent team‑working skills and the ability to work independently and use own initiative when required.
* Communicate with a variety of service users who have individual needs and with other health professionals.
* Proficiently use all dental equipment, conduct performance checks and identify maintenance issues.
* Carry out stock control and maintain stock in the surgeries.
* Provide chair‑side dental nurse duties, assisting dentists delivering dental treatment in the community dental service.
* Ensure all necessary instruments, equipment and materials are prepared and ready for each patient, with a specific requirement for accuracy during all procedures.
* Make available fine instruments and materials for clinical use; have a thorough knowledge of all instruments, equipment and materials used, and be able to interpret the needs of both patients and clinicians promptly and efficiently.
* Handle patients, stock and equipment following the trust’s manual handling techniques.
* Process radiographs using toxic chemicals and mount x‑rays, and be responsible for accurate labelling and filing.
* Ensure all records are available when required, including medical history forms and x‑rays.
