Amspec Limited is a construction and fit‑out enterprise operating in the north‑west of England across four sectors: Commercial, Retail, Public, and Specialist & Bespoke fit‑outs.
Summary
The Quantity Surveyor will assist in managing all contractual and financial aspects of construction projects. The role is hybrid, with time spent site‑based across the northwest and at our Wigan office.
Responsibilities
* Schedule work packages based on architectural drawings and site surveys using Amspec’s Evaluate software to organise, schedule, measure and cost various package of work.
* Monitor and control project costs through CVR management, ensuring adherence to budget and identifying cost variations for timely mitigation.
* Conduct regular valuations of work completed and prepare interim payment applications; review and approve subcontractor and supplier valuations and invoicing.
* Prepare and manage all contractual documentation, subcontract documents, Employer’s instructions and contractor’s instructions; ensure compliance with contract terms.
* Source and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive packages in line with the proposed programme of work; prepare and issue subcontract agreements in line with Amspec Procurement standards; manage procurement schedules to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
* Provide accurate forecasts of project costs and financial performance; identify and report on cost overruns and financial risks.
* Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress of subcontractors; verify that work aligns with quality and quantity standards; identify potential financial and contractual risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
* Work closely with Amspec project teams, engineers, architects and other stakeholders to ensure project success; provide financial and contractual advice to the project team.
* Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, contracts and project documentation via Procore; ensure all documentation is up‑to‑date; prepare final accounts and project close‑out reports.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying.
* Minimum 2 years of experience as a Graduate or Assistant Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
* Good knowledge of construction processes, materials and cost management.
* Proficiency in using quantity surveying and project management software.
* Excellent problem solving, analytical and numerical skills.
* Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
* Effective communication and negotiation skills.
