About the EnvironmentThis position is based within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment that supports advanced production, technical operations, and regulated processes. The site operates to high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, with a focus on continuous improvement and reliability across all manufacturing and support systems.
Role OverviewThe Mechanical Technician will carry out maintenance duties across mechanical plant and building services equipment. The role includes planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault finding, and ensuring the safe andpliant operation of mechanical systems within a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlanned & Reactive Maintenance
1. Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly to minimise operational disruption.
2. Carry out mechanical repairs, adjustments, andponent replacement as required.
Mechanical Systems & Asset Care
3. Maintain and troubleshoot equipment such as pumps, valves, HVACponents, pipework,pressors, motors, and associated utilities.
4. Conduct mechanical fault finding using established diagnostic methods.
5. Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with minor project work or system upgrades.
6. Adhere to all Health & Safety, environmental, and sitepliance requirements.
7. Work in accordance with risk assessments, method statements, and the standards expected within a regulated manufacturing environment.
Operational & Stakeholder Support
8. Provide a high standard of service to onsite teams, working to defined KPIs and service expectations.
9. Participate in emergency call‑out duties or lone working if required.
Contractor Coordination
10. Support the coordination and oversight of third‑party contractors, ensuringpliance with site safety procedures and documentation requirements.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
11. Strong mechanical engineering background in industrial, manufacturing, or technical environments.
12. Proven ability to fault‑find and maintain mechanical and M&E equipment.
13. Experience working within factory or regulated environments.
14. Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe systems of work.
Desirable
15. Experience within pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or other GMP‑regulated environments.
16. Familiarity with continuous improvement or reliability‑focused maintenance practices.
17. Basic building fabric repair skills.
Qualifications
18. Time‑served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
19. Additional H&S or specialist mechanical training beneficial (, LOTO, confined space, MEWP certification).
