Payroll Administrator (Maternity Cover - Fixed Term - 12 month contract)

We’re looking for a detail‑driven, proactive Payroll Administrator to join our People Services team and help ensure every colleague across the College Group is paid accurately, on time, and with great service.

What You’ll Be Doing
As our Payroll Administrator, you’ll play a key role in the smooth running of our monthly payroll and wider People Services operations, including:
1. Processing monthly payroll accurately and to deadline
2. Calculating payments and deductions such as overtime, allowances, SMP, SSP and salary variations
3. Maintaining employee records, including bank changes, starters, leavers, and tax code updates
4. Supporting colleagues across the College with payroll queries in a professional and customer‑focused way
5. Producing accurate data, reports and management information when required
6. Working closely with HR to ensure employee changes are processed efficiently
7. Using HR/Payroll systems (including CHRIS) and Microsoft Office to manage data effectively
8. Supporting process improvements, team projects, and continuous development of the service
9. Carrying out general administrative duties including correspondence, filing and email management
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who brings:
Essential
10. Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
11. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
12. Experience working in payroll and/or a busy administrative role
13. Ability to organise workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
14. Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills
15. Ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels
16. Experience using HR or payroll information systems
17. GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)

Let’s Bloom
The LET’s Bloom Programme aims to connect our experienced and qualified teachers to share best practice and support continued risk-taking as we continue to add depth to our teaching craft. Teachers volunteer on this one year programme, working closely with the Learning Enhancement Team, capturing their experimentation in a journal.
