Lead with Purpose in a Practice That Feels Like Home
Are you an experienced people leader from a veterinary or healthcare background? Do you thrive in a busy, purpose-led environment where no two days are the same? Wendover Heights Veterinary Centre is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Practice Manager to join our dedicated team and help steer the day-to-day running of our thriving small animal practice.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Practice Manager, you’ll play a central role in supporting the daily operations of our small animal practice, working closely with our clinical leadership team. You’ll be responsible for line managing the reception, admin, and Pet Health Club teams, while also overseeing HR processes and supporting the financial and operational side of the business. Your ability to build strong relationships, solve problems calmly, and stay organised will be key to maintaining the high standards and positive team culture we’re proud of.
Your Working Week
This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, which can be worked over four or five days to suit your preference. The core hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm, with only minimal weekend involvement required.
About Us
Located in the beautiful market town of Wendover, on the edge of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our practice has been providing quality veterinary care for over 40 years. Our two-acre site features a spacious main hospital building, a standalone cat clinic, and a separate equine facility - though this role will focus solely on the small animal side.
We’re a team of 45 people, including 10 vets and 15 RVNs, supported by dedicated reception and admin staff. Our facilities include hydrotherapy and physiotherapy services, a large and well-equipped clinical space. We’re known for our friendly atmosphere - and yes, we really do provide lunch for the whole team every day.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who enjoys making a difference behind the scenes - the kind of person who can keep things running smoothly while supporting the people who deliver outstanding clinical care. Previous experience in a veterinary environment is a plus, but we’re equally open to applicants from healthcare or other service-led industries who understand the importance of team dynamics, structure, and compassionate leadership.
