Senior SACT Nurse (Bristol) – GenesisCare UK
The Role
As the Senior SACT Nurse, you are responsible for delivering chemotherapy nursing services to patients within the unit and deputising for the line manager where required. This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact and develop your career. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours), Monday to Friday.
What You'll Do
* Provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals from diagnosis through all stages of treatment.
* Maintain a high standard of evidence-based nursing care for patients undergoing chemotherapy, assessing health, nursing and related needs of patients and carers, and initiating appropriate steps for effective care. This includes:
o Managing a patient caseload
o Close liaison with medical consultants
o Ordering diagnostic tests within agreed parameters
o Running nurse-led clinics
* Work autonomously while providing clinical leadership, ensuring each patient has an accurate care plan reflecting assessments and recommendations, with clear documentation in the patient’s records.
* Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in intravenous access, central venous catheter management, venepuncture, and chemotherapy delivery, including management of anaphylaxis and extravasation.
What You'll Have
* Experience in intravenous drug administration
* Experience in chemotherapy administration
* Sufficient post-registration nursing experience in oncology or a related specialty to be confident and competent in using the required skills
* Ability to work accurately and reliably under pressure
* Ability to make decisions, organise and prioritise
* Experience and competence in blood transfusion and bone marrow biopsies
Qualifications and Knowledge
* NMC Registered Nurse
* UKONS SACT Passport or to be completed within three months of appointment
* Fully trained and qualified in venepuncture and cannulations; experience with various central venous access devices
* Willingness to train towards a recognised chemotherapy qualification
* UKONS trained with oncology telephone triage experience and knowledge in neutropenic sepsis management
