Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. BSc (Hons) BMS or equivalent
2. HCPC Registration
3. FIBMS/MSc or equivalent
4. Management qualification: CMS / NVQ3 equivalent
5. Evidence of commitment to Continuing Professional Development
Desirable criteria
6. European Computer Driving Licence
Experience
Essential criteria
7. Wide experience within the NHS, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior role in Clinical Biochemistry
8. Demonstrable skills of problem solving
9. Evidence of experience of compliance with appropriate accreditation bodies e.g. UKAS, MHRA, JACIE, HTA
Desirable criteria
10. Experience in other Pathology Disciplines
11. Experience in other hospitals
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria
12. Ability to work within all areas of the laboratory
13. Ability to present ideas / findings to variable sized groups from own profession to others, including general public
14. Possess good interpersonal and communication skills
15. Ability to interpret diagnostic results and take appropriate action
16. Proven training / teaching ability
17. HR & appraisal skills
18. Ability to organise own workload and that of other staff
19. Possess highly developed technical skills and adept at laboratory procedures

Knowledge

23. Detailed knowledge of theoretical and practical laboratory procedures in Clinical Biochemistry
24. Knowledge of UKAS requirements
25. Knowledge of Pathology / Clinical Biochemistry / Immunology LIMS and IT systems and their functionality
26. Detailed knowledge of H&S requirements, including COSHH regulations
27. Knowledge of standard IT packages e.g. word processing and spreadsheets
