We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Housing Options Manager to lead our Housing Solutions team. You will be responsible for the strategic management of housing options and homelessness services, ensuring that vulnerable households receive timely, effective, and compliant support. This role combines leadership, policy oversight, and operational management to deliver high-quality housing solutions in line with statutory obligations.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage a team of Housing Options Officers and support staff, including recruitment, training, appraisals, and performance management
• Oversee the delivery of homelessness prevention, temporary accommodation placement, and housing options services
• Ensure compliance with statutory duties under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 and other relevant legislation
• Develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures to improve service delivery and outcomes for clients
• Monitor budgets, resource allocation, and funding to ensure cost-effective and efficient service delivery
• Manage complex or high-profile cases, including escalations, complaints, Ombudsman cases, and judicial reviews
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with external agencies, landlords, housing providers, and voluntary organisations
• Represent the service at strategic meetings, internal committees, and external forums
• Use data, performance metrics, and feedback to continuously improve services and report outcomes to senior management
About You
• Proven experience in housing options, homelessness prevention, or housing management, ideally in a local authority or housing association setting
• Strong leadership and people management skills with experience of supervising large teams
• Excellent knowledge of housing legislation, homelessness law, and statutory duties
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities with a track record of improving service delivery
• Budget management and resource planning experience
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage complex cases and high-pressure situations with sound judgement
