Taunton Vale Healthcare is a well-established GP practice, servingover 13,000 patients.
We have an expanding and diverse workforceincluding; nurse practitioners, paramedics, first contact musculoskeletalphysiotherapists, clinical pharmacists and mental health workers workingalongside five GP Partners and salaried GPs.

The following are the core responsibilities of a Salaried General Practitioner. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels
1. Perform clinical examinations of patients to assess, diagnose and monitor conditions
2. Carry out patient consultations within the surgery, either face-to-face or via telephone
3. Monitor patients' conditions and wellbeing
4. Carry out clinical examinations
5. Diagnose and treat various illnesses/ailments
6. Liaise with other healthcare professionals (, midwives, pharmacists, health visitors and psychiatrists) as part of multidisciplinary teams
7. Prescribing in accordance with the CCG prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
8. In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Job Description:
9. Inaccordance with the Practice timetable (distributed as a weekly bulletin), asagreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a varietyof core duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations andqueries. Other workload may involve visiting patients at home, checking andsigning repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork andcorrespondence in a timely fashion.
10. Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whetherself-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganisation
11. Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems
12. Screeningpatients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
13. Inconsultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease managementprotocols, developing care plans for health
14. Providingcounselling and health education
15. Admittingor discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other careproviders as appropriate
16. Recordingclear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
17. Collectingdata for audit purposes
18. Compilingand issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoidinghand-written prescriptions whenever possible)

Qualifications
Essential
28. Member of the GMC Register
29. Experience of working in a primary care and urgent care environment
30. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills written, verbal & particularly listening
31. Clear understanding of professional responsibility and accountability
32. Good clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis and management of acute Primary care presentations
