An exciting opportunity has opened within the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU) for an Accredited Financial Investigator (FI) to join our Proactive Economic Crime Team (PECT).
Responsibilities
* Play a key role in asset recovery and removing criminal wealth from high‑harm offenders.
* Support Serious Organised Crime investigations and covert operations targeting high‑level OCGs across the 7‑force region.
* Manage and oversee complex, sensitive financial investigations, providing expert briefings to operational units and SIOs.
* Work closely with ERSOU teams, contribute to training/CPD, and support enforcement activity.
* Travel across the region and attend court as required.

* PECT is a dynamic, intelligence‑led unit providing rapid proactive responses to economic crime.
* The FI Pod delivers ERSOU’s core Regional Asset Recovery capability, working alongside four investigative pods led by dedicated supervisors.

* Confident, articulate investigators with experience in asset recovery.
* Accredited FIs or those working toward accreditation with strong motivation and appetite for learning.

Although this is an agile working role, there is a requirement for the successful applicant to participate in an on‑call system to conduct out‑of‑hours financial enquiries, primarily into high‑risk missing person investigations. This commitment covers weekends and weekdays with the current commitment being one shift approximately every ten weeks. Your contracted base will depend on your home location.

Vetting
Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development Vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. The Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, including financial checks.
Nationality Requirements
This post is designated a ‘reserved post’ under the Civil Service Nationality Rules and is open only to UK Nationals. Anyone holding dual nationality can apply but may be required to relinquish non‑British nationality if successful. A British national parent or substantial ties to the UK are required.
Family Circumstances
If you are married to or cohabiting with someone who isn’t a British citizen, you may still be eligible for employment at the department’s discretion. However, post‑appointment marriage to or cohabitation with a non‑British citizen may result in the withdrawal of security clearance and a subsequent transfer or dismissal.
