About the role
You will be part of the Noclor NHS Research Support Service based in Kentish Town, supporting the set‑up and delivery of the NIHR portfolio of research studies across the North London Research Delivery Network. The role focuses on increasing research participation by NHS and non‑NHS settings, including community services, social care and the voluntary sector, with a special emphasis on recruiting from currently underserved groups.
Key responsibilities include feasibility assessment, confirming site and participant capacity, coordinating data collection, ensuring timely payment of research‑related costs, and providing administrative support to researchers and study teams. Collaboration with clinicians, academics, researchers, community groups and other NHS and non‑NHS organisations (such as GP practices, schools, care homes and hospices) is essential.
Working from home is not permitted during the first six months and thereafter only one day per fortnight is allowed. The bulk of the time will be office‑based, with a willingness to travel across services within the Trust.
Job Responsibilities
* Act as the first point of contact for all telephone, email and personal enquiries from researchers and stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective responses.
* Communicate daily with a wide range of individuals including departmental colleagues, higher educational institutions, community organisations, practice managers, GPs, and local Research Delivery Network contacts.
* Monitor and respond to requests from care‑home managers, hospice managers, general practices and other non‑NHS community services, ensuring efficient email handling.
* Provide administrative support to researchers and team members.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the NIHR and Research Delivery Networks and the evolving research management landscape within the NHS.
* Adhere to confidentiality, ICH Good Clinical Practice, and Trust R&D and information governance policies.
* Manage competing priorities with strong organisational and time‑management skills.
* Work independently, exercising judgement, and escalating queries when appropriate.
* Identify learning needs and pursue relevant training to keep skills current.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification or appropriate working experience.
* Experience in an NHS or commercial health research environment.
* Postgraduate qualification in a science or health‑related subject or equivalent experience.
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience of working in a research environment.
* Experience of working in Primary Care, general practice, care homes, hospices or similar organisations.
* Experience of working in an NHS/academic or pharmaceutical environment.
* Familiarity with the set‑up and structure of local community services.
