Role Overview
Department: Clinical Negligence case auditor and support Medical Law Services (MLS). Location: Hybrid, Liverpool.
Medical Law Services has a fantastic opportunity to join our growing team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role by applying their clinical negligence expertise to review decisions made by our in‑house nurse team regarding case acceptance. They will ensure that all appropriate leads have been accepted and that each case has been accurately assessed, including correct identification of allegations, limitation issues, and the appropriate number of defendants. Legal support will also be provided throughout the lifecycle of each case during the MLS process, alongside the delivery of training and feedback to both the legal and nurse teams within MLS to support their ongoing development.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and audit clinical negligence leads that have been vetted by the medical‑legal team (nurses).
* Identify risk assessment points and audit the relevant date of knowledge, record on Proclaim and record the reasons why the limitation period has been set to that date.
* Provide training, guidance and support to Medical Law Services and Fletchers lawyers as necessary.
* Provide legal guidance to the MLS teams and assist with case progression where needed.
Ideal Candidate
* Experience handling clinical negligence claims.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Excellent case management skills.
* Good knowledge of medical conditions and ability to identify appropriate case categories.
* Analytical skills and a methodical approach.
* Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to work as a team member and remotely.
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Experience using Proclaim or other software tools such as Adobe, Microsoft.
