Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Care Certificate
Desirable criteria
2. NVQ Level 3 in care
Experience
Essential criteria
3. Experience of working in a team under appropriate supervision
4. Experience working with patients requiring one to one supervision and care
Desirable criteria
5. Experience of working with the public
6. Experience working in the NHS
7. Previous experience of working within mental health care environment
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria
8. Skills in de-escalation of patients with behaviour that challenges
9. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (to understand and be understood)
10. Ability to follow clear instruction and feed back to senior staff.
Desirable criteria
11. Understanding of basic physiology, e.g. normal vital signs, fluid balance nutritional requirements etc.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
12. Working knowledge of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity
