We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join us for a 12 Month Industrial Placement. As a Mechanical Engineer on Industrial Placement, you will be responsible for providing engineering support and working in a group primarily consisting of mechanical design engineers. You will participate in projects for the design of mechanical and opto-mechanical hardware to support visual display products with guidance from technical leads.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Creation of assembly drawings, detailed manufacturing drawings, bills of materials and technical documentation in accordance with company quality procedures.

2. Update drawings and documentation from vendor and installation feedback.

3. Review specifications and other data to develop preliminary mechanical layouts leading to detail design.

4. Contribute to the development of new products as well as modify existing products or processes to increase efficiency or improve performance.

5. Liaison with internal customers, equipment suppliers and subcontractors associated with programs.

6. Contribute to internal design reviews and be prepared to present design.

Basic Qualifications:

7. Studying for a degree (or equivalent qualification) in Mechanical Engineering.

8. Able to multi-task and prioritise own work

9. Ability to build strong relationships and be a team player

10. A can do, find a way, attitude

11. Experience of delivering high quality work to a deadline

12. Creativity, initiative, diplomacy, self-motivation and self-confidence

13. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

14. Proficient in Microsoft Office; specifically the use of Microsoft Excel to filter, clean, identify, analyse and interpret trends or patterns in data

Preferred Experience:

15. 3-d CAD experience using an industry recognized product. SolidWorks will be the software used for mechanical design and detailing.

16. Familiarity with relevant components of BS8888 which are required to produce CAD drawings for manufacture.

17. Understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes required for machined and fabricated parts.
