Overview
An exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to join the Cancer Genetics team on the Prostate Cancer UK funded project “Identifying patients with aggressive prostate cancer by detecting molecular subtypes in urine”. The project aims to identify known and novel prostate cancer subtypes from the extracellular vesicle fraction of urine and to use them to develop tests for advanced disease and improve our understanding of cancer progression.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the research programme, analyse and interpret data, write up results and present information on research progress and outcomes.
* Collect and process samples to generate transcriptome data from 350 urine samples and matched biopsy samples from men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer to create a unique paired dataset.
Qualifications and Skills
* Graduate-level qualification, equivalent qualification or experience.
* Proactive and results-driven, able to work in a high-paced environment.
* Excellent laboratory skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to analyse and interpret data and work effectively as part of a team.
* Advanced skills directly relating to this research area and previous research experience would be advantageous.
Contract Details
This full-time post is available from 1 February 2026 on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.

Salary
Starting salary from £31,236 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £37,694 per annum.
