Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, Nationally Certified (Per Diem)

Responsibilities
1. Review and process departmental order requests.
2. Prepare medications for distribution to patient care units.
3. Distribute medications to patient care units.
4. Order medications from various suppliers.
5. Maintain medication inventory, check expiration dates, process returns, and place stock orders.
6. Train and orient new pharmacy support personnel.
7. Perform billing and other pharmacy duties not requiring a pharmacist.
8. Maintain accurate records and regulatory documentation.
9. Pre-package and label bulk medications for unit dosing.
10. Answer telephone calls and direct inquiries to the pharmacist.
11. Provide excellent service to patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and coworkers.
12. Maintain department cleanliness.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Additional Duties
1. Obtain patient medication orders for reconciliation into MAR.
2. Prepare chemotherapy and perform dosage calculations.
3. Read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
4. Hold a high school diploma or GED.
5. Possess Massachusetts state registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
6. Have Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification or equivalent.
7. Have at least one year of recent experience as a Pharmacy Technician (within the past 3 years); three years preferred, or PTCB certification as an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
8. Demonstrate strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Assist the pharmacist by performing technical functions.
Schedule Details
Per Diem hours, rotating days, occasional weekends and holidays.
