Domestic Linen Assistant ( WCH )

The closing date is 17 July 2025

Domestic Linen Assistant Band 2 West Cumberland - 25hr post - available Monday to Friday 7am-12pm

An Exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Domestic Department at West Cumberland Hospital

Candidates should be flexible, reliable and trustworthy

Experience is preferred but training will be given.

Main duties of the job

To provide a flat linen redistribution service to all wards and departments as required within West Cumberland Hospital, Community Hospitals and Ambulance Services on behalf of NCIC Foundation Trust.

* Order linen requirements in via the linen provider website and add/reduce the set top up system as and when required
* Collate all linen requirements and usage figures for WCH site and Community sites
* Distribute flat linen to all wards and departments as required on site
* Arrange delivery of flat linen to the Community via the Portering Service
* Visit all wards within WCH site on a daily/weekly basis
* Carryout regular stock checks
* Maintain accurate up to date flat linen figures

Maintain adequate flat linen stock, liaising regularly with ward/department staff, Domestic Services Manager and Elis (flat Linen Provider

H&S

* Exposure to infected and foul linen conditions, causing the need for protective clothing
* Exposure to lift heavy loads e.g. packs of bed sheets/towels
* Be responsible for the cleanliness of the flat linen room and other items within the use of delivery to the wards and departments (trolleys) for cross contamination purposes

Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

* youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure
* the multiple conviction rule has been removed, meaning that if an individual has more than one conviction, regardless of offence type or time passed, each conviction will be considered against the remaining rules individually, rather than being automatically disclosed.

Please note the cost of the DBS check is increasing from 2nd December and the new cost will be

Standard DBS check £21.50, Enhanced DBS check £49.50 + any admin costs.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* oNVQ 1 in cleaning & support services or equivalent.
* oBICSc certification or equivalent.
* oNVQ 2 in cleaning & support services or equivalent.


Experience

* oWork in a hospital environment.
* oWork in a domestic role.


Knowledge

* oUse of household cleaning equipment.
* oHygiene.


Skills and aptitudes

* oAble to work alone and in a team.
* oAbility to use initiative appropriately.
* oAble to follow health and safety and hygiene procedures.
* oEquality issues.
* oAble to supervise staff.
* oTeaching skills.


Disclosure and Barring Service Check
