Job Title: Head of Finance
Location: Hybrid working (minimum 1 day onsite per week)
We are seeking a proactive, passionate, and positive Head of Finance to lead our financial team within a vibrant local authority. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the financial future of a town rich in heritage and with a promising future.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance and working closely with the Director of Resources, you will oversee the operational finance team, develop robust financial processes, and support managers in budget management. You will also oversee the production of the annual Statement of Accounts and maintain relationships with internal and external auditors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage the finance team covering budget control, financial reporting, management accounting, treasury management, income collection, and ICT systems (Agresso).
2. Oversee the production of the annual Statement of Accounts and coordinate with auditors.
3. Drive the financial transformation programme to improve efficiency, procurement, processes, and systems, including overseeing the implementation of a new financial system from One Advanced.
4. Contribute to the development of the Council's financial policies and be part of the corporate management team to deliver the new Corporate Plan.
5. Support the Council's financial preparations for local government reorganisation.
