Job Title: Operations Manager
Location: Cambuslang, Scotland
Working Hours: 35hrs Mon-Fri
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum (Dependant on Experience)
About Spinal Injuries Scotland
Spinal Injuries Scotland is the national charity dedicated to supporting individuals with a spinal cord injury, their families, and friends. From its base in Cambuslang, the charity provides advocacy, peer support, and information services, alongside delivering a wide range of projects across Scotland. The organisation’s mission is to empower people to live fulfilling, independent lives after injury, ensuring they have access to the right support at the right time. Working closely with hospitals, healthcare professionals, and community partners, the team includes staff and volunteers with lived experience who bring empathy, insight, and expertise to all aspects of the work.
What will you do as an Operations Manager?
The Operations Manager will oversee the organisation’s operational performance and ensure it meets its strategic aims. Working closely with the CEO and Board, the postholder will create and deliver operational plans, manage budgets, and support staff and volunteers in delivering high-quality services. The remit will be varied and hands-on, covering leadership, project management, compliance, communications, and governance.
Key Responsibilities
* Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and support staff and volunteers, ensuring they have the tools and guidance to excel.
* Operational Planning: Develop and deliver operational plans that align with the organisation’s strategy and objectives.
* Financial Oversight: Manage budgets for allocated projects, monitor expenditure, and ensure resources are used effectively.
* Compliance & Policies: Ensure all organisational policies, procedures, and records are accurate, up to date, and compliant.
* Safeguarding Responsibility: Ensure safeguarding policies are followed and support staff, volunteers, and members with any safeguarding concerns in line with organisational procedures.
* Systems & Processes: Maintain and improve operational systems, processes, and best practice approaches.
* Performance Monitoring: Develop KPIs, track progress, and ensure targets are met across the organisation.
* Governance Support: Prepare reports, chair meetings, and represent the charity at events and presentations.
Qualifications
1. Experience
* Proven experience in operations management (5 years minimum), ideally in the charity sector.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team, including through periods of change.
* Knowledge of fundraising and grant management.
* Strategic planning and project management experience.
* Financial management and budget oversight skills.
* A background in improving systems, processes, and compliance.

* Highly organised with strong time management skills.
* An excellent communicator, able to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and external partners.
* Confident decision-maker with the ability to problem-solve and adapt.
* Understanding and commitment to the values of Spinal Injuries Scotland.
* Willingness to travel regularly across Scotland (must have access to a car).

Location
Based at the office in Cambuslang, Glasgow. Flexible working options are available for this post including home working and occasional evening hours in line with charity needs.
