We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Peer Review Team Manager to join our growing team.
Role Summary
What will you be doing?
The Peer Review Team Manager manages, motivates and develops a large team to deliver a fair, inclusive and efficient peer review service across a portfolio of journals. The role is responsible for resourcing, for managing the peer review process and for driving the requirements of IOPP’s workflows to meet business needs. The Peer Review Team Manager helps deliver the peer review strategy, sponsoring cross-departmental projects and initiatives. They also manage peer review on a small number of titles within the portfolio.
Key job accountabilities:
* Building and managing, motivating and developing a large peer review portfolio team.
* Managing and supporting the individual performance, development, training and recruitment of Editors and Associate Editors.
* Taking overall responsibility for the portfolio to deliver a fair, inclusive and efficient peer review process that meets customer requirements.
* Instilling fair and inclusive peer review practices across the team: peer review is conducted without bias, and follows a transparent process in a fair and ethical manner.
* Maintaining a focus on continuous improvement for peer review.
* Managing growth through process and operating efficiencies.
* Demonstrating expertise in the peer review process, including reviewer selection, decision making on articles, efficient handling of papers at every stage.
* Working with external Editors, partners and Editorial Boards in support of the journal(s) and participating in Editorial Board meetings.
About you:
The successful applicants should demonstrate the following:
* Degree or PhD
* STM Publishing and peer review experience
* Experienced people manager, ideally leading and motivating a large team
* Experienced change manager/agent

* Ability to track progress against KPIs
* Ability to motivate a team to success
* Collaborative approach to team management and working with peers.
