North Wales (Hybrid Working Available)
I am currently working with a well-established specialist contractor in the roofing and cladding sector who is looking to appoint an experienced Draughtsperson to join their design team. This is a key technical role, supporting senior design and operational staff across a varied portfolio of construction projects.
My client is a long-standing, privately owned business with an excellent reputation for delivering building envelope packages on schemes valued up to approximately £5m.
Project Profile
Projects are primarily industrial and warehouse developments, with additional work across commercial, retail, and education sectors. The focus is largely on composite and built-up systems rather than faade-only solutions.
Working Arrangements
* Monday-Thursday: 8:00am-5:00pm (45-minute lunch)
* Friday: 8:00am-2:00pm
* Hybrid working available - minimum three days per week in the office (Monday-Thursday)
* Full-time office attendance preferred but not essential
Candidate Requirements
My client is seeking someone with:
* At least 5 years' AutoCAD experience specifically within roofing and cladding
* Revit experience (desirable but not essential)
* Excellent attention to detail
* Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively
* Proven experience with building envelope systems, including composite and built-up solutions
* Familiarity with proprietary systems from major manufacturers
* Understanding of fabrication detailing and production requirements
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
* Designing and detailing bespoke cladding, faade, and building envelope solutions from concept through to completion
* Producing full drawing packages for client approval
* Generating manufacturing drawings
* Carrying out preliminary steelwork checks and mark-ups
* Preparing fabrication schedules for production
* Ensuring specifications align with quotations and project requirements (including finishes, fire performance, and thermal criteria)
* Liaising with site teams regarding design queries or revisions
* Managing documentation through project portals
* Issuing drawings, calculations, and lifting/crane plans as required
Additional Responsibilities
As you become established in the role, you may also:
* Attend design meetings on site or remotely
* Liaise directly with clients, architects, and consultants
* Review external drawings and specifications and raise technical queries
* Conduct site surveys and measurements when necessary
* Coordinate with system manufacturers and suppliers on materials and procurement
