Applications are invited for a 12 month fixed term, full time (10PA) Locum Consultant replacement post for a retiring consultant based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH). We are interested in candidates that have undergone a comprehensive ear, nose and throat training and an interest in Paediatric Otology would be desirable. A fellowship in Paediatric Otolaryngology would be desirable but not essential.
The ENT Departments based at NNUH and the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (JPUH) have recently been joined under the Norfolk and Waveney Acute Services Integration Project (ASIP) with NNUH being appointed as the lead provider. It is expected that there will be increasing collaboration of ENT service covering the Norfolk and Waveney area.

Main duties of the job
The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals.
The appointee will be participating in a 1 in 8 weekday on-calls, and 1 in 11 weekends on-call.
All consultants, including the appointee, will be expected to be involved in implementing the Trusts Clinical Governance programme. This includes active participation in clinical audit, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.
The appointee will be a member of the Consultant Staff Committee and be expected to serve on this committee.

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via; o CCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) o CESR or o
* Diploma of Medical Education (or equivalent
* Higher academic degree MD, PhD (or equivalent)
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload
* Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Enthusiasm for service development and teaching.
* Previous responsibility for service improvement.
* Participation in audit
* Record of ability to secure independent funding for research
Experience
* Applicants who are Nationals from another European country or elsewhere overseas would have to show equivalence to the 5 years training period in the National Health Service required for the specialty.
* Good working knowledge and experience of up to date otolaryngology
* Training and expertise in childrens safeguarding
* Sub specialty Fellowship in Paediatric Otolaryngology
* Substantial teaching experience within academic surgical environment
* Experience in research or published papers in area of special interest

* Specialist Interest in Paediatric Otolaryngology
Circumstances
* Flexible outlook on working hours.
* Must live within a 15-mile radius of the base Trust or 30 minutes travelling time.
* Ability to travel across multi-sites whilst public transport may not be available.

* Ability to present effectively to an audience, using a variety of methods, and to respond to questions and queries
